So many times I hear moms say “ I can’t wait until my kids are in school” or in general “ I can’t wait” well lets work together on that and Embrace the now and enjoy what they are NOW!
I once day dreamed of packing lunches and my kids kissing me good bye every morning as they were perfectly dressed and shouting “I love you” as they walked to class.
KEY WORD: DAY DREAMED!
I understand why many people have babies back to back for the whole age thing as well as maybe you waited until later to have kids or you are like me and just LOVE babies the whole process (pregnancy, birth and up to about 15 months) See I say 15 months because that is when sweet babies usually start to get wild ,into everything and even have first fits! Don’t worry though..it only will last till around 2ish then you can communicate a bit better with them.
I just don’t think moms with little ones (under 5) realize actually how easy it is.
I KNOW I KNOW you are rolling your eyes at me right now thinking “are you crazy”
A 5 year old can feed them self, dress them self etc.
But guess what a 5 year old can’t drive themselves to school, pick out the clothing, fix their hair properly, do homework alone or remember to pack their lunch and then drive them to practice after school. Now that last sentence is an easy day! Add in the 9 year olds book report, the birthday party on sunday, the baseball game friday night & the baby needs a diaper change.
Though for the record I would rather be busy then bored ANYDAY!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a mom it was what I dreamed of for years and I had the best example of a mother (stay home mom even still) Im just being honest and raw with you and those of you moms with 2 or more kids of varied ages are saying “amen sister”
So don’t think Im complaining but Im just sharing truth with you so when you sit and think about having more babies back to back or you have this perfect picture in your mind & it does not happen you can say “Mama Eco Chic said there would be days like this”
Now If I could go back in time I would have to say when my boys were about 2 & 4 was SO fun.
I did not have “babies” but they were not in school (yet) We were able to go to the park, get ice cream, play at the Nut Tree Park & they thought I was the best thing ever!
I also used to love wresting with my boys and spending a lot of time outside, we would garden, ride bikes, go on nature walks etc.
It was very simple & I now see why the older wiser women were telling me to treasure it and that it goes by so quickly. The other thing is (for SAHM) I was able to keep the house pretty together as well as meals etc.
Though Im loving every stage with Mercy as I have older ones to look to as a reminder of how quickly it goes. I am enjoying seeing my little boys grow into their own people with a opinion of their own on food, clothing and such. I am so proud of my boys in many areas: school, sports & being such helpers with Mercy to name a few. Its crazy how they seem to age & I still feel 22 most the time~
Now as a mom of three that was a SAHM and now a working mother I want to offer up my tips 🙂
1: Naps are important for all ages even if it is just quiet time or a rest. Im talking about you too moms!
2: Picking out clothing for the next day the night before or even for the whole week saves a lot of time
3: Packing a daily snack box/bag for on the go will help you avoid always needing to buy things when you are out.
4: Do not underestimate the outdoors, front yard, back yard, park etc. This is the secret to keeping your house clean!
5: Cleaning is over rated- when you look back you wont say “wow my house was clean”
I missed out on some snuggles & giggles in the name of a clean floor.
6:MEAL planning. Instead of starting at your pantry aimlessly pick out 5 meals you will make during the week then SHOP based off of those meals.
Example this is my week
Sunday: Enchiladas Monday: leftovers Tuesday: Spaghetti, Salad & Bread
Wednesday:Fajitas & rice Thursday: Sloppy Joes Friday: Out Saturday: Easy orange ckn
When you plan meals it actually makes cooking easier! You can just get the items out in the morning and not stress. Also prepping ahead of time make things easier as well. I keep a little calendar on the fridge. We all as a family pick a meal we want for the week before we go to the store, meal planning saves money as well
7: Lower your expectations and don’t compare (easier said then done I know)
8: Clean out drawers and such seasonally to keep clutter out & it feels good to purge
9: Stay in love with your partner & work together Loving your kids is loving your spouse/partner
10: Enrich, Revive & Educate. You should research things such as household cleaners, food your feeding your child, parenting etc. Or you should read our upcoming E book with all you need to know 😉
11: Make time for you…even If its a pedicure, a new eyeshadow or a starbucks these things go a long way for mommies!
12:Plan ahead if possible for bday parties, vacations, dates (with hubby or your child) But at the same time don’t be such a planner that you can up & go or do something last min either. Some of the best dates or plans can come at the spur of the moment- Embrace it!
13: Make a list or several lists of goals for the year and things you want to do/places you want to go, items you want to buy & projects you want to start.
Pinterest is a great tool for this as well as “notes” on apple products
14.Turn off the computer one time a day, when its on you are tempted to go over to it and “just check one thing” That is my famous line I will confess.
If its turned off then Im like “whatever” In our tech generation its important to set limits on electronics for our selves & kiddos.
15.Be free to be you & love you as you are an amazing beautiful mother
